Our Story

Route 66 has always been a special place to me, even though I was born the same year that route 66 was officially decommissioned. I love the spirit and the stories of route 66. The more people I talk to, the more amazing stories I hear about how route 66 means so many different things to so many different people. Even though it is decommissioned, Route 66 is still the main street to many cities across the country.

I always knew I wanted to do something on route 66, but what? I tried to reach out to many different owners of sights along the way. I offered to help them rebuild or refurbish landmarks and buildings on route 66 that have fallen in disarray. I wanted to see these places as they stood in their heydays. I love the iconic vintage designs. However, most owners I spoke to were happy to let them continue to decay until one day they are gone. What shocked me was asking the thoughts of the route 66 communities and hearing many people say they wanted to see these places left the way they are. I get it, but then what will be there for the next generation to see? When it comes to breathing life back into historic places there needs to be an extreme level of care that will stay true to its origins. This is not always the case. So many times, places that hold such important memories for us begin to age. We are glad to hear when they are being fixed, but when we finally get to see them again, the improvements made make them unrecognizable.

I looked and looked for the opportunity, and then I realized if I can’t restore why not create. By creating a campground on route 66 that encapsulates the golden age of America, the American dream. This way we can create monuments to the places that have disappeared for generations to come and see. Not a museum but a place for families to come and create their own route 66 memories

Times have changed, but that doesn’t mean that the spirit of exploration, the hopes for a better life, and a better world have. I hope you will join me here on route 66 to get away from the hustle of modern life. Slow down and enjoy the simpler things. Thank you for coming and reading my story. I can’t wait to hear yours!
